WE COVERED THE COURSE IN A SINGLE DAY

Golf Pirkkala commissioned event photography for a tournament with over a hundred participants. The images were needed both for the club’s website and for its social channels.

One shoot day covered the competition, the crowd’s mood, individual moments and course detail. The result was an image bank in which the course itself is as present as the play.

Golf Pirkkala is an 18-hole golf course in Pirkkala, a short drive from Tampere. The course splits into two very different nines. The front nine demands accuracy on flat ground and the back nine lives on its elevation changes.

When over a hundred guests are spread across a whole golf course, you can't shoot everything from one spot. The gaps between holes are long and events move constantly. The route across the course has to be planned before the round begins.

  • A golf event doesn't repeat. Every moment is gone the instant it happens.
  • The challenge is being in the right place at the right time and catching the players' best moments.
Idea

Capture the feel of the day, not just the sport.

Golf event photography works when it captures the whole. Beyond the sport, the images had to carry the feel of the day and the players' best reactions. One frame holds the competitive tension and in the next two players are chatting on a fairway. The course works as a stage in the images rather than just a backdrop.

We scouted the course beforehand and picked the best spots for competition shots as well as the natural gathering areas for atmosphere. Through the day we moved between holes by golf cart.

  • The image set covered the competition, the atmosphere, portraits and the course.
  • The images were delivered for the website and social media.
  • The image library served both the marketing of the event itself and the club's general imagery.

We wanted a skilled photographer to shoot our 100-plus-person golf event. Photographing a golf event has its own challenge, with guests spread around the course over long distances. We received excellent service from Fraymful and the resulting photos were exactly what we hoped for. Great images add enormous value to the event and to preserving it.
