A drone film showing the hotel in the middle of the winter season, by day, in the evening and at night.

Hotel showcase film, summer

A drone film of the hotel in the magic of midsummer. It works on its own and as a companion to the winter shoot.

PROJECT

THE HOTELS IN THEIR LANDSCAPE, WINTER AND SUMMER.

The idea was the same on both shoots. We wanted to show the three Levi properties by drone, in the landscape people come to Levi for.

We shot for the first time in late February 2026 during the Nordic Arctic production trip, over two days and in three different lights. The summer versions we shot in July 2026, when we drove to Levi for this alone. Kassiopeia now has the same package for both seasons, meaning a showcase film, social cuts and drone photographs.

ABOUT THE HOTELS

Kassiopeia Hotels & Restaurants is a Finnish hospitality company with hotels, restaurants and meeting facilities in Levi and Espoo. Panorama and Summit sit on the fell slope, K5 in the fell village.

Production

How two seasons were shot.

In winter we had two days, in summer five. Both times the drone went up only once the light was right and the flight path was thought through.

Challenge

Lapland weather calls for patience.

In winter we had two days at the end of February. The shoots had to be timed to morning, midday and afternoon light in a working ski resort. The slopes were open and the weather set the shoot times.

In summer the problem was the opposite. The light never runs out, but constant rain showers and fog stopped the flying for the first days, so we extended the shoot to five days. The other challenge was the midnight light and the fog we were after. You cannot order conditions. Clear skies came only in moments, so we stayed up through the nights and kept watching for when it was worth putting the drone up.

Idea

The hotel has to look like itself.

A drone is the only tool that places a hotel properly in its landscape. It shows the fell behind it, the slopes around it and the distance from the slope to the village. In winter that meant scale and how close the slopes are. In summer we were after the midnight light and the calm the hotels have outside the season, plus close-ups of the hotels' details and restaurants, now that we had more time.

A good drone flight is planned before take-off. For every flight we thought about where it starts and where it ends, what is in the frame along the way and where the light falls at that exact moment. In summer that also meant new spots beyond the hotels. We shot the morning light from the top of Kätkätunturi, where the hotels' place in the Levi landscape shows wider than from their own slope. Levi village is in there just enough for the viewer to know where they are.

Execution

Two drones and two pilots, both times.

The drone work was split the same way both times. Konsta flew the DJI Inspire 2 for video and Valtteri the DJI Mini 4 Pro for photographs.

In summer we scouted angles around the hotels in advance and decided the flight paths day by day and night by night, according to the weather. The material is in use in the hotel's presentations, marketing and its own videos.

FOR SOCIAL MEDIA

Fraymful carried out the drone shoots of the Levi Summit event centre and Hotel Levi Panorama in the Levi fell extremely professionally from start to finish. The production team worked smoothly even in the demanding winter conditions, and the result exceeded our expectations: we got high-quality, visually striking image and video material we can use widely and for a long time in our marketing. The collaboration was efficient, flexible and reliable.
