The factory runs on its own schedule and the machines start when they need to. We filmed during a normal production day, so we worked around the machinery and the staff without slowing anything down.

The film still had to be easy to follow and interesting to watch, so we planned it as a documentary of the real process.

Industrial work repeats itself, and that repetition is what makes it precise. The rhythm of the line, the machined metal and the scale of the hall from above gave us plenty to work with. We built the shoot around the real process and used the most striking spaces of the factory in the film.

We followed the production chain in order, from raw materials and machining to assembly and finished valves. Each stage was shot where it actually happens. We ran stills and video at the same time, so we could get everything we needed on a tight schedule and disturb production as little as possible.
